Birth Anniversary of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad celebrated

To mark the 122nd birth anniversary of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, India’s first Education Minister and a great leader of India’s freedom movement, the Embassy of India in Tehran organized on November 11, 2010 a reception at the India House.

Ambassador of India in Tehran, His Excellency Sanjay Singh, inaugurated the function which was attended by representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iran, members of India-Iran Friendship Association and a large number of Iranians from various walks of life including eminent scholars, academicians, artists and journalists.

Ambassador Singh in his address recalled that Maulana Azad was one of the architects of modern India. He also touched upon the successes that India has achieved in education and in economic spheres emphasizing that education is one area where India and Iran can cooperate in a significant scale. 

His Excellency, Ambassador Morteza Rahimi, Director, Coordination Center of Friendship Associations, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iran, in his remarks highlighted the cultural affinity between the two great civilizations of India and Iran emphasizing that people to people interaction would strengthen the relations between India and Iran.

Professor Ebrahim Bastani Parizi, a renowned historian and writer, who translated Maulana Abul Kalam Azad’s “Zul-Qarnain or Cyrus the Great” from Arabic to Farsi also spoke on the occasion.
