10th anniversary celebrations of the Indian Ocean Naval Symposium (IONS)
The 10th anniversary celebrations of the Indian Ocean Naval Symposium (IONS) themed ‘IONS as a Catalyst for SAGAR’ was held in Kochi to discuss mutual maritime issues of member states from 12-14 Nov 18. The seminar saw the participation of 26 of the 32 nations who are the members of IONS. The Chairman Chiefs of Staff Committee and Chief of the Naval Staff, Adm. Sunil Lanba, accompanied by Mrs Reena Lanba, president Navy Wives Welfare Association attended the seminar at Kochi, besides the other guests and foreign delegates. Chiefs of navies of Bangladesh, Iran, Japan, Madagascar, Maldives, Mauritius, Mozambique, Netherlands, South Africa and the UAE, as well as senior delegates from 16 other IONS member nations attended the IONS anniversary celebrations. The special cover was released jointly at the Lulu International Convention Centre by the Chief of Naval Staff, Admiral Sunil Lanba, Fisheries Minister Mercy Kutty Amma, Post Master General, Northern Region, Jithendra Gupta and Commander of Islamic Republic of Iran Navy, Rear Admiral Hossein Khanzadi.
