Community Affairs

The Community Affairs Wing acts as an important link between the Government of India and the Indian diaspora, helping protect the interests of Indian nationals abroad while strengthening India’s relationship with overseas Indian communities. Community Affairs is the Indian Mission’s main interface with the local Indian community, focusing on their welfare, grievances, engagement and assistance during difficult situations. The Community Affairs deals mainly with the welfare, interests and engagement of the Indian Community in Iran. Nodal Officer maintains regular contact with the Indian community and is responsible for Indian community liaison and welfare work. The broader objective is to help Indians abroad with issues relating to legal assistance, health, financial matters, employment-related problems and other welfare concerns. During emergencies, Community Affairs officers assist in coordinating support, disseminating information and facilitating consular assistance to Indian nationals in close coordination with the consular wing.
