Notification for ICCR-General Scholarship Scheme for the Academic Year 2018-19

Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) will be awarding scholarships for meritorious Iranian students interested in pursuing higher studies in India under its General Scholarship Scheme (GSS) for the academic year 2018-19. The scholarship covers undergraduate, postgraduate and PhD studies in India in various fields spanning arts, science and technical field (except MBBS and BDS)

IMPORTANT INSTRUCTIONS

This is to inform all interested applicants that from this year onward, all admission process will be done online. Interested applicants are requested to visit the website given below and register themselves.

Applicants are requested to read the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) given in the website and familiarize themselves with the admission process including the list of Universities

All students selected for the scholarship will have to stay in Hostels. No exception will be made for family or health reasons.

Only students who are 18 years of age by July, 2018 or above should apply. Under-age applicants are liable for rejection.

The applicants should have proficiency in English language. To determine the proficiency of the candidate in English language, an English Proficiency Exam will be conducted by the Embassy of India on February 1, 2018. This exam is compulsory.

Applicants may note that qualifying the English Proficiency Exam does not guarantee admission to the Universities under ICCR scholarship. Admission is decided by the Universities on the basis of the applicant’s credentials (including English proficiency) and as per their own eligibility criteria.

Applicants are advised to exercise due diligence and research on the specific admission criteria laid down by various universities for each subject and ensure that they submit relevant documents as required by the Universities in addition to the basic certificates mentioned in the application form. For this, applicants can refer to the University Grants Commission website and the concerned institute’s website or eligibility criteria.

Applicants should ensure that they have taken Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics in their high school examinations, if applying for Engineering course, as it is mandatory.

ICCR does not provide scholarship for Medical/paramedical(nursing/ physiotherapy/ anesthesia etc), fashion course. For science course, the expenditure on laboratory chemicals and other related incidental charges will be borne by the scholars themselves.
