Notification for ICCR-General Scholarship Scheme for the Academic Year 2019-20

Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) will be awarding scholarships for meritorious Iranian students interested in pursuing higher studies in India under its General Scholarship Scheme (GSS) for the academic year 2019-20. The scholarship covers undergraduate, postgraduate and PhD studies in India in various fields spanning arts, science and technical fields (except MBBS and BDS).

IMPORTANT INSTRUCTIONS 

This is to inform all interested applicants that all admission process will be done online. Interested applicants are requested to visit the website given below and register themselves.

Applicants are requested to read the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) given in the website and familiarize themselves with the admission process, including, the list of Universities.

All students selected for the scholarship will have to stay inside Hostels, wherever available. No exception will be made for family or health reasons.

Only students who are 18 years of age by June, 2019 or above should apply. Underage applicant is liable for rejection. 

The applicants should have proficiency in English language. To determine the proficiency of the candidate in English language, an English Proficiency Exam will be conducted by the Embassy of India on February 7, 2019 (Thursday). This exam is compulsory

Time: 1500-1630 Hrs

Venue: Embassy of India, Tehran, 22, Mir Emad Street, Corner of 9th Alley, Dr. Beheshti Avenue, Tehran.

 

 Applicants may note that qualifying the English Proficiency Exam does not guarantee admission to the Universities under ICCR scholarship. Admission is decided by the Universities on the basis of the applicant’s credentials (including English proficiency) and as per their own eligibility criteria.

Applicants are advised to exercise due diligence and research on the specific admission criteria laid down by various universities for each subject and ensure that they submit relevant document as required by the Universities in addition to the basic certificates mentioned in the application form. For this, applicants can refer to the University Grants Commission website and the concerned institute’s website or eligibility criteria.

 Applicants should ensure that they have taken Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics in their high school examinations, if applying for Engineering (BE/B-Tech) course, as it is mandatory. Applicants applying for engineering courses should ensure that they are not more than 30 years age at the time of admission in Indian Universities/Institutes.

ICCR does not provide scholarship for Medical/paramedical (Nursing/Physiotherapy/Anesthesia etc.), fashion courses. For science courses, the expenditure on laboratory chemicals and other related incidental charges will be borne by the scholars themselves.
